Remembering Honestly

As that calendar year moves from 2025 to 2026, Isaiah challenges us to recount the gracious deeds of God. Can you recount any gracious deeds of God's in your life or in the life of your faith community? I remember the gift of life in 2025, with a new puppy born on January 27th and precious twin grand daughters born on September 29th. This birthing reminds me that God continues to say "Yes" to life in all its flourishing. I also remember that saints that have finished their journeys among us and are now fully with God. I give thanks for the countless people who have come along side those struggling to put food on the table or to keep a roof over their heads in 2025, organizations and individuals who remembered Jesus parable about doing these things for the least of things. I also acknowledge those who chose to amass great wealth, while ignoring the cries of our world. Remembering honestly is important. This year has been a hard year for far too many people in our nation and around the globe. Even so, God's light is not extinguished. God's light continues to pierce the darkness around us. Isaiah challenges God's people to "Arise! Shine!" Let us wake up and be God's light wherever God takes us today and in the year to come.
